October 15, 2012: Lumina Power to introduce 6000W, 350A Diode Laser Pulser at Photonics West 2013
Laser and electro-optic power supply manufacturer Lumina Power today announced plans to introduce the HPP Pulser,
the industry's first OEM 350amp pulsed laser diode driver at Photonics West, February 5-7, 2013 in San Francisco.
The new HPP Laser Diode Pulser features the ability to deliver 350A at output voltages up to 90V with short rise/fall
times of <15µs and an average output power of up to 6kW, an industry first. Even when operating at a maximum of 350A,
the new HPP pulser provides full diode protection to prevent damage.
Lumina designed the new laser diode pulser to work with its LDD-VP series of continuous wave (CW) power supplies which
regulate the input voltage to the pulser for optimal overhead voltage and a peak efficiency of >90%.
The HPP pulser is controlled by a standard 15-pin analog/TTL interface and includes inputs for enable, trigger, output
current, simmer voltage and CW/pulsed operation.
Photonics West is North America's largest photonics and laser trade show, attracting leading laser, photonic, and
electro-optical device manufacturers from around the world and featuring 1200 exhibitors and over 20,000 attendees
from the medical, bioscience, industrial process, and communications industries.
The 2013 show is scheduled for February 5-7 in San Francisco's Moscone Center.

June 19, 2012: Lumina Power Introduces Compact, Universal Laser Diode Driver Controller
Users of laser diode drivers now have greater flexibility in their system designs and usage
with the introduction of Lumina Power’s new handheld, programmable, laser diode driver controller.
The new laser diode driver controller, called the LDDC 1550, features a convenient, easily-programmable
handheld unit that eliminates the need for users to create their own controller, saving time and money.
The compact controller comes with a standard 15 pin d-sub connector to interface directly with the laser
diode driver. For additional system versatility, the controller can act as a remote computer interface
using a standard USB cable connection from the controller to a desktop or laptop computer. The LDDC
1550 can be powered by an external power supply or directly from the laser diode driver itself.
The LDDC 1550 is compatible with all of Lumina Power’s continuous wave or pulse wave drivers, the
user simply dials in the proper power setting. Multiple set-ups can be saved and recalled to
control different drivers with one unit.
Features of the new LDDC 1550 laser diode driver controller include:
- LCD display and keypad with encoder for variable parameter adjustment
- 0.1 Hz-100 kHz on-board pulse generator
- Standard 15 pin driver interface
- USB cable connection for remote computer interfaced and control
- Compatibility with all Lumina Power laser diode drivers and short-arc lamp power supplies

September 15, 2011: Lumina Power to Introduce New LDY Series of OEM Laser Diode Drivers at Photonics West, Jan. 24-26, 2012
Laser and electro-optic power supply manufacturer Lumina Power’s Vice president Barry Essig today announced plans to introduce
the industry’s first single OEM laser diode driver capable of providing both continuous wave (CW) and slow pulsing capabilities
at Photonics West, January 24-26, 2012 in San Francisco.
Designed primarily for high-power medical and industrial applications, the new series of laser diode drivers features a
sub 400 microsecond rise/fall time, output current up to 100A, and maximum output voltage to 200V -- ideally-suited
for high-power medical laser applications as well as industrial processes such as photolithography and 3D scanning. The
new continuous wave and quasi-continuous wave (CW-QCW) laser diode drivers will enable laser system OEMS to offer their
customers a single laser system capable of multiple applications and processes for greater flexibility at a lower cost.
In addition to showing the new LDY Series, Lumina Power will be introducing a new 2500-Watt laser diode driver as part of
its popular, industry-leading LDD Series.
Photonics West is North America’s largest photonics and laser trade show, attracting leading laser, photonic, and
electro-optical device manufacturers from around the world and featuring almost 1200 exhibitors and over 19,000
attendees from the medical, bioscience, industrial process, and communications industries. The 2012 show is scheduled
for January 24-26 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center.

August 23, 2011: New High-Power Laser Diode Driver Enables Laser OEMs to Use One Driver for Both Continuous Wave and Pulsed Applications
The industry’s first single OEM laser diode driver capable of providing both
continuous wave (CW) and slowing pulsing capabilities for high-power medical and industrial
applications is being introduced by laser and electro-optic power supply manufacturer Lumina Power.
The new series of laser diode drivers, called the LDY Series, features a 400 microsecond
rise/fall time, output current up to 100A, and maximum output voltage to 200V -- ideally-suited
for high-power medical laser applications such as non-surgical therapeutic treatments as well as
industrial processes such as photolithography and 3D scanning. The new continuous wave and
quasi-continuous wave (CW-QCW) laser diode drivers will enable laser system OEMS to offer
their customers a single laser system capable of multiple applications and processes for greater
flexibility at a lower cost. It is the only laser diode driver available in the United States with both
continuous wave and pulsed capabilities designed for high power application of up to 1500 watts.
The new LDY Series laser diode drivers are based on Lumina Power’s industry-leading LDD
and LDDHC Series of continuous wave laser diode drivers, but enhanced to provide pulsing
capabilities at slow speeds up to 400Hz. A crowbar has been incorporated to reduce high
voltage transients, enabling faster rise and fall times while protecting the diode.
Features of the new LDY Series laser diode drivers include:
- Compact design
- Universal input for all voltages
- Analog interface
- Auxiliary +15V/-15V/+5V
- Safe turn-on/turn-off
- CE and safety agency approval
- Power factor correction
- ROHS compliance

March 29, 2010: Lumina Power announces the next generation of enhancements to the board level pulsed laser diode drivers
Lumina Power will release new faster versions of the LDPC and LDQPC laser diode drivers on April 15th 2010.
These enhanced versions of the popular board level OEM drivers are in direct response to customer requests
for faster rise times required in many new applications.
The LDPC series will now be offered with rise times of 2us. at current levels to 70amps
allowing the laser designer to specify practical pulse widths from 5us through CW operation.
The LDQPC series can be specified with a rise time of 10us. at current levels to 200amps peak.
Introduced in early 2009 the LDPC and LDQPC diode drivers are now being used in laser designs worldwide
with excellent reliability and predictable performance. The small board size is easy to integrate and
the DC input allows for the use of one AC to DC power supply to operate the whole laser reducing
EMI/RFI for easier CE approvals.
